How Fabiola Barinas Does it All and Still Helps Others: The Secret to Balancing Motherhood, Health, Entrepreneurship, and Marriage

Fabiola Barinas makes up one half of the Unstoppable FitCouple, alongside her husband and business partner, Alan Rodriguez. Both she and her husband have helped guide thousands of clients to find the best versions of themselves and achieve optimal health. In conjunction with being a full-time wife and entrepreneur, she is also a mother of three, fitness influencer, mindset coach, and mentor. The question she gets asked the most is: How does she do it?

We caught up with Fabi to garner her take with hot tricks of the trade when it comes to juggling motherhood, marriage, managing a business, and maintaining optimal health — both physically and mentally.

Rule Number One: There is No Balance

To begin, Barinas explains that everyday works on a sliding scale. One day she will be giving her all to her family and significant other, then realize that she neglected housework, her fitness regimen, or the tasks of her business. The next day, or that same evening, she will turn 100% of her energy to one of the latter areas, effectively creating a blocked-out balancing system wherein all energy goes towards one area over the others.

That is the key: One must be able to embrace the chaos, love the process, and count their blessings each day.

“My relationships with my clients, for example, are just as important as those I share with my family,” said Barinas. “The ability to make myself available to everyone and everything that I deem important in my life is a skill I had to learn. You can’t do everything all at once, you have to focus on one thing at a time, and give yourself grace.”

    Get Organized

Come up with a detailed agenda and stick to it. Having a plan on how one will approach the day can be the determining factor as to whether everything gets done. Barinas emphasizes to her clients the importance of being willing to adapt, because things happen and sometimes it’s necessary to change course or switch it up altogether.

    Don’t Give Up

Things are not always easy. Barinas stresses to her clients to never give up on themselves and what success means to them. One must look inside, get inspired, and see what’s possible.

“Before we got married my husband did not make it as far as he wanted in becoming a Major League Baseball player and later, I was not securing the kind of acting roles I had hoped for,” said Barinas. “Rejection is a part of life. We had to pivot in order to create the life we wanted. It is important to keep going. But not only that, we wouldn’t be in the amazing position of success, health, and love that we are in today without giving up some past dreams. Now, we are exactly where we are supposed to be, with the ultimate dream life for our family.”

    Remain Focused and Centered

It is important to remember that we need to put ourselves first. That doesn’t mean we don’t show up for the ones we care about, but we have to feel safe in our own space, mentally, physically, and professionally. It is key to have a release, like physical activity and exercise. However, having the ability to block out the noise is just as important.

“Work to live, not the other way around. You can get the worst advice from someone who may have the best intentions, but you have to remember their fears and insecurities are not your own,” Barinas said. “What we have built has surpassed our wildest dreams and is proof that you can come from nothing. Just dream big, do big, and never give up!”

    Mindset Shift

We have to show up everyday for both ourselves and our loved ones. That also means that we sometimes might have to step out of our comfort zones and do things or make decisions that we might otherwise not want to do. Barinas’ mentality behind it all is that she gets to do these things, not that she has to do them.

“A tree is going to grow to its maximum potential without much effort. But for humans, the smartest beings in the world, this does not happen naturally,” she said. “Most people settle. There’s always more we can get better at and improve on. Don’t fall for comparing your chapter 1 to my chapter 100.”
